The Philander Chase Conservancy and Kokosing Nature Preserve are pleased to welcome Greg Melville '92. Join us for a lively discussion moderated by Royal Rhodes, professor emeritus of religious studies, on the history of American cemeteries: what they reveal about us, the threat they face from virtual immortality, and how the modern back-to-nature burial movement roots itself in Emerson and Thoreau.
A reception and book signing will follow.
Sponsored by the Edgerton Lectureship Fund.

Since its inception in 2001, Philander Chase Conservancy has protected nearly 6,000 acres within 5 miles of Kenyon, anchoring the college in a sense of place. Kenyon is the only college or university in the country with a land trust. Kokosing Nature Preserve, a project of the Conservancy, is the first and only conservation burial ground in Central Ohio. The preserve offers walking trails in a serene location just minutes from campus.
